Thanks and a ?

Dear friends,

Thank you again for all of your love and prayers during my recent illnesses. They have meant so much to me and my family and have absolutely contributed to my recovery.

I want to thank all of my friends, family, and caregivers for all of their understanding and care. Knock on wood I am feeling better and I am looking forward to going to see a show on June 23.

My friends, I need your help and ideas. I have a problem and I hope someone out there has an answer for me as to how I approach this and get it solved. Here is the situation I have been in the same apartment now for over 7 years. I have never been late with my rent and have never caused any problems here. Since I moved in the carpet in the apartment has always been a problem. The carpeting is 16 years old and was not really installed correctly to begin with. Being that I am in a wheelchair, parts of the carpeting are wearing quite thin, the carpeting is so worn and loose that there are waves in it. I have put off cleaning it because I am afraid that the carpet will just fall apart. I first approached my landlord about two years ago with this problem and asked for new carpeting to be put in. Their reaction has been to say that like if I had a dog and the dog damage the carpet I would be responsible for changing the carpet. So since I have a wheelchair it is the same situation as if I had a dog. I explained that a dog is not necessary for me to live, but my wheelchair is. Now just to let you know, these people also told me when my air conditioner was broken that my lease said I would have an air conditioner but they didn't say it had to work.

Now a few weeks ago I attempted to get the carpet cleaned. The carpet cleaners came, took one look at the carpet and said they would take my money but there is no way that they can do a good job on the carpet. So here is the problem. I am now on oxygen 24 hours a day I need a safe environment to live. I've had multiple infections and of course the heart attacks. They refuse to give me new carpet and I cannot get this one cleaned. I do not wish to move as that is a lot of work and there are not many apartments here that will fit my needs. They have suggested that I with my own funds which I have none and besides if I put in a new carpet do I get to take it with me when I leave.,.,.lol.

Does anybody have any suggestions for me does anybody know anything about renters laws I attempted to contact a law service but they only deal with evictions. I really feel stuck between a rock and a hard place and I don't know what to do. I appreciate anybody's feedback or ideas.

I apologize that this was not a more interesting blog post but I will have some a funny story for you soon. Thank you again for all the love and kindness as I have said before it fills my heart.

Be superb!

Richard
